¡Hola amigos!
¿Que pasa en Holanda? ¡Aqui todo es BIEN!
Hace sol y no llubia...Ok, now back to English... Here, the sun is shining and NO rain!!! We´re soooo happy. Although in the morning and in the evening it´s pretty cold. We have experienced temperatures from as low as 17 degrees till as high as 38 degrees... Sounds good, doesn´t it? BUT... we´re getting a cold from these temperature differences!
Let´s see, what have we been doing:
On Sunday we went to Granada and looked around in the Arabic part of the town: Albaizin. We made quite a long and interesting walk through very small and steep alleys in which a lot of Arabic shops are situated. In this part of the city, you have great views on the Alhambra. After our long walk, we got pretty hungry... BUT... we are in Spain... which means: Siesta, tapas and late dinners... so when we were looking for a restaurant we noticed that almost all restaurants open at 21.00hrs. So, we had to wait for a couple of hours... After our late dinner we took a look in the city center, which was pretty crowded and we noticed that a lot of people just hang around a fountain, looking at it, talking, eating ice creams etc. VERY RELAXED!
Then on Monday, we wanted to visit the Alhambra. On Saturday night we were able to book 2 tickets through the internet... we were expected to be there at 11.00... after some discussion about the way to drive to the Alhambra, we just made it in time... BUT when it was our turn at the counter, the lady told us "your reservation number is not correct! Are you sure you booked the tickets for today?" We were a bit confused, we checked everything twice and this should be correct... so after discussions at the information stand, we were told to call to the agent... so we did... and after several calls, the lady told us that the money was subtracted from the account, but that the tickets were booked for 22 JUNE?!?!?! SORRY??? Are you kidding me??? No, she was not. So we cancelled the whole deal, went back to the information stand and explained our situation. We really had to talk our way in, because at this point there were hundreds of people waiting in line and the tickets for that day were almost sold out... what to do???? Finally after talking and begging, the lady was so kind to just let us go in front of all the rest and we could buy tickets for 17.00hrs.! To kill some time, we went back to the city center of Granada and did some shopping. Around 15.00 we went back to the Alhambra and started our visit with the gardens Generalife, the Alcazaba and finally the one thing we came for: Palacios Nazaries. At 17.00 we had to wait in line again... and again... and again... and finally at 17.30 we got in! WOW... it was so pretty. It is an Arabic palace, everything was so beautifully sculptured, it is just one big masterpiece!
After our visit we again had a really late dinner and then went to bed, because this morning we had to get up a bit early to drive to Baeza. (inland of Andalucia)
Around 12.00 we arrived in the town of Baeza, but guess what??? Our hospederia did not excist anymore... there was a hotel though, with the same name, so in my best Spanish I asked if it was of the same owner and where we could find our hospederia. Seems that we booked this hotel??? We were absolutely happily surprised, because this hotel was super modern, really our style (like hotel La Bergere in Maastricht).
After dropping our luggage, we first visited the city of Ubeda, really pretty! Very old, very nice, very friendly etc. etc. After spending a couple of hours in Ubeda we went back to Baeza for our siesta (we´re really adjusting to the Spanish lifestyle) and after that took a look around in Baeza. It´s about the same as Ubeda only smaller. The atmosphere is GREAT over here and we´re really enjoying the Spanish way of life... RELAXED!

P.S. Trudy, ik was even vergeten hoe leuk ik Spaans vond... misschien moet ik maar weer eens een paar lesjes bij je nemen!

Hey guys,
Blij te horen dat het bevalt daar in het Zuiden. Hoewel Spanje mij niet echt trekt, heb ik toch zin om mij nu ziek te melden en jullie kant op te komen. Het weer is ronduit kl...ten en van enige relaxte sfeer is hier helemaal geen sprake. Jammer dat jullie slechts een Citroen C2 hebben. Daar passen maar twee mensen in, toch? Had een C4 gehuurd, dan stonden wij morgen bij jullie voor de deur.
Geniet van jullie trip en doe geen gekke dingen. -
