Hello to you all!
At this moment we are still in Brisbane, but tomorrow we are leaving and start the big trip.
Yesterday my uncle took us to Brisbane.
When we arrived we had our first real rain shower. It poooooored! Unbelievable! So before doing anything, we just sat down for a lovely cup of coffee and a nice little heartshaped cake, and just waited for the rain to pass by. After about 15 minutes it was dry again and actually pretty warm and of course very humid. To get a good look at the city we took the citycat over the river. It took us about 2,5 hours and it was really nice. We had a really great view and even the sun came out after a while, which was of course terrific! After the boat trip, we went to pick up our rental car, which is a toyota camry. It was again a little bit funny to be on the "wrong" side of the road again, but Moes could manage quite easily. In the evening we went out for dinner and after that we just sat around, had a few drinks and just talked. It's nice to catch up with family that far away!
This morning we got up at 8 and went to the Alma Park zoo, which is quite close to where my uncle lives. At the zoo, you could get up close and personal with koalas... you could pet them... CUTE!!! I really fell in love with those little animals, they're so adorable, it's just amazing, although they're not as soft as I imagined. Their fur feels a little bit like a sheep... a bit rough, it's not as soft as you would imagine. You could also get up close and personal with kangaroos (which I found were a bit ugly, ha,ha,haaa... only the wallabies are cute) and you could pet a baby crocodile and a carpet snake. The snake was quite interesting and felt like 1 big muscle. The baby crocodile was feeling like real leather. It feels the same as when it's made into a purse... AND... when we were walking around, we had our first creepy crawler encounter... a very big spider... eeuuuhhhwwwww... terrible, but hey, this is Australia, this is what you can expect!
In the evening we celebrated my uncles' 65th birthday. His son and wife and little baby Zaene got over and we had some lovely Thai dinner. It was really, really nice to meet them and talk to them. Maybe we will visit them before we go home, because it's on our way back.
Tomorrow we will be leaving here and start our travel. We had a great time here and I even fell in love with their cute little dog Sammy!

Wat ontzettend leuk om jullie verslagen zo te lezen. Lyd, ooit overwogen je eigen reis journals te schrijven?! Ik vind ze erg leeswaardig: lekker levendig en vol humor! Vooral die met die koffers, overboekingen en annuleringen. Hilarisch :-0
Ik ben me nou ook langzaam aan het inlezen in D.O. en lees voeral hoe relaxed die Aussies zijn. Jullie zijn dat ook, dus kan me voorstellen dat jullie je zo snel thuisvoelen!
